Remember Gossip Girl? How Dan Humphrey exposed everyone’s secret throughout the series? Bridgerton is somewhat like that with the characters living in the Regency-era London and a little gossip girl, or boy of their own threatening to reveal their secrets to the world.
The first season is set to release on the 25th of December 2020 on Netflix. The filming for the second season was scheduled for the summer of 2020 however due to the Covid-19 crisis it has been pushed to early 2021. A delay in filming also means that season 2 will be shared on the screen most probably in 2022 meaning the fans will have to wait for a little over a year for a new season.
The filming also depends on whether there will be another lockdown or not. If the second wave of the virus is hitting the world, the shoot will be further delayed until all this is over. It is also important to note that Netflix has not yet confirmed a season 2 as yet however as per the original plan, the production team of Bridgerton was to begin filming in July 2020 however that plan could not be carried due to the reason discussed above.
Now the filming is scheduled for March 2021 and if all goes well, the team of the show will be able to wrap up the filming on time and season 2 will hit the screen soon after, hopefully
The show is based on the books written by Julia Quinn. There are 8 books in the series and the plot for the first season 1 is taken from one of these books.
The second season will also be based on one of the books from the series. The fact that the series has many books, makes us believe that this show will live a long life for at the very least 4 to 5 seasons.
Bridgerton Season 2 – Who is Part of the Cast?
The cast includes 8 siblings including Daphne Bridgerton who is played by Phoebe Dynevor, a young Bridgerton who is ready to find a husband and get married and also predicted to be romantically tied to Simon Basset who is played by Regé-Jean Page is the Duke of Hastings who immediately becomes the talk of the town when he arrives.
Another Bridgerton sibling Colin Bridgerton who is played by Luke Newton is a soft-hearted man who gets infatuated with a woman who is new in town while Eloise Bridgerton played by Vanity Fair actress Claudia Jessie is the rebellious sibling that every trio of siblings has and she has plans that do not involve marriage.
Luke Thompson plays the role of Benedict Bridgerton, the second eldest child of the family who hopes to be able to become an artist one day. Will Tilson will play the role of Gregory Bridgerton who is the naughty sibling, going around teasing his sisters.
Florence Hunt will play the role of Hyacinth Bridgerton who has the same plans as her sister Daphne to get married one day while Francesca Bridgerton the most reserved sibling of all who likes to keep to herself will be played by Ruby Stokes.
Lady Violet, the Bridgerton siblings’ mother will be played by Ruth Gemmell. The Bridgerton father is shown to have passed away when the series begins so we do not expect his appearance unless there are any flashbacks.
Other characters include the Featherington family and other little characters who play different roles alongside the above characters.
What to Expect from the 2nd Season of Bridgerton?
Shonda Rhimes, the showrunner for not just Bridgerton but also Grey’s Anatomy and How to Get Away with Murder seems to know perfectly well what a hit show looks like and considering the fact that the among mentioned shows were big hits for years and had many seasons we expect nothing less than extraordinary from Bridgerton either.
We hope to see all the drama a high society can have and much more along with chemistry between the cast and hopefully the bong between the siblings too. We will also get to watch how each sibling in their personal life struggles to fulfill their dreams especially those that the society is against.
The 2nd season will also most likely show the love interest of some of the Bridgerton siblings but we cannot say for sure which ones and whether the storyline will go according to what is written in the books.
For now, the filming for the 2nd season has not begun however we can expect that if things go smoothly season 2 will be shot and edited soon and hopefully come to our screens by 2022 if not earlier.
Meanwhile, the first season will be released on Christmas which you can enjoy at the end of this very hectic year. There are 8 episodes all of which will be released on the same day as every Netflix series does.
Until the 2nd season of Bridgerton gets released, here is what you can binge watch after you are done watching all 8 episodes.
You can watch Grey’s Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder and Scandal which is also by the same showrunner as Bridgerton, and these shows are highly rated by the viewers for their interesting storylines and the ability to keep the viewers gripped to their seats and watch episode after episode not wanting to stop.
How to Get Away with Murder has all six seasons on Netflix so you will not have to wait for new episodes and can finish the show in one go. Meanwhile, Scandal has moved to the Disney-owned streamer Hulu where it moved from Netflix. All seasons of Grey’s Anatomy can be found on Netflix too.
Until the new season comes out you can enjoy these shows without getting bored and of course, many people like to re-watch a season so you can always go for that as well!
