Dash & Lily have taken Netflix by storm with viewers hanging on to its every episode. Season 2 can unfold in several ways, and in this article, we will explore the different storylines.
The first season follows the lives of two teenagers in New York City who interact with each other through a shared notebook. This leads them to an in-person meeting.
In season 1, Midori Francis plays one of the two protagonists. She is well-read who dreams of finding the perfect match. She plays a game in the bookstore in which she challenges the readers to take on different dares.
The second protagonist, Austin Abrams co-star as Dash. He is the opposite of Lily and is more cynical. However, he does enjoy exchanging messages with her. Things take off between them, as Dash goes on a scavenger hunt devised by Lily. Both of them push each other towards adventures, and ultimately, they become a couple.
It is a fantastic teen drama in which any Grinch can become a believer. Plus, it is set in New York City during the holidays. As any New Yorker will tell you, it is the most magical time of the year. It is also a reminder that magic does exist in book stores. You could find it in something as trivial as red notebooks.
Dash & Lily Supporting Characters
There are also supporting characters on the show. These include Boomer played by Dante Brown, Edgar played by Glenn McCuen. With these two characters, the show becomes a lot more interesting as they are close friends of Lily and Dash.
The series is based on the book by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan’s 2010 book Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares.
In the second last episode of season 1, Lily meets Dash and tells him that her family is moving to Fiji. The notebook romance seems to come to an end—at least for the time being. However, the ending is much happier.
Lily’s parents decide not to move to Fiji, and Lily is left to pursue her romance with Dash in the magical city of New York.
Will There Be a Dash & Lily Season 2?
On to the next most pressing question: will there be a season 2 of Dash & Lily? Well, there is no verdict as of yet.
Netflix has not officially asked for a second season. However, the first season was received positively. So it is fair to assume that there will be news of a second season by mid-December. It would be a Christmas gift for everyone.
Two book sequels have also been released so things are definitely looking good.
When Will Dash & Lily season 2 Be Released?
Since there has been no word of a second season, there is no date yet. However, since the second book is set one year into the future, the second season will likely air sometime in 2021. However, that is also assuming that the main characters don’t have any scheduling conflicts.
The filming might take place towards the second half of 2021. So you might have a second season in November or December 2021.
The Plot of Dash & Lily Season 2
We don’t have much on the plot of season 2. However, we can make a pretty good educated guess on what the plot will look like based on the second novel The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily. Lily’s grandfather, played by James Saito is not doing well. And neither are Dash and Lily.
According to the description in the book, Lily and Dash are still in a relationship. However, the illness of Lily’s grandfather has taken a toll on everyone. Even though the pair are still together, they have lost the spark. Lily particularly, has lost the magic from her life.
Dash & Lily Season 2 – Cast
The case for the second season will most probably be the same. There can be no Dash and Lily without Austin Abrams and Midori Francis. So it is safe to say that they will be taking on their roles in the next season.
The returning characters include Dante Brown, Troy Iwata, Agneeta Thacker, James Saito, Keana Marie, and Jodi Long. There could be the Jonas Brothers for another concert, but only the second season will tell if that is going to happen for sure.
Right now, if you are missing the pair that plays Lily and Dash. You should watch Abram’s in HBO’s Euphoria and Frances in The Birch.
Dash & Lily Season 2 trailer
So, when can we expect a promo? Or a trailer? By the looks of it, it is not going to happen anytime soon. So we suggest you lower your expectations just a notch. There is nothing expected either because it will be a while before the filming even begins.
Thanks to the Coronavirus, productions have been delayed for several shows, and Lily & Dash might just be one of them.
However, as with other shows, the promo or trailer will drop just a couple of months before the air date. It might even air the same month as the official release date.
Since Netflix has not renewed the show, there is not much information about that. There is only speculation. However, since Netflix has never let its viewers down, it is only a matter of time before Dash & Lily is given a green light.
For now, you will have to do without the second season. If you are in the mood to watch something festive, we suggest giving the show another go. It is full of magic and possibilities.
A lighter version of The Notebook, if that is how you want to see it. Especially with the holiday season approaching, it will put you in the mood. It is probably Netflix‘s most charming show. The perfect blend of drama, romance, and magic for teenagers and young adults.
